Part-time Director of Christian Education

Description

The Director of Christian Education (referred to as DCE hereafter) shall oversee the educational ministries for all ages of the Church and direct the Adult & Children’s Ministries so as to develop a total program. The position is under the direct supervision of the Senior Pastor; with monthly reports being given to the Session. This is an immediate opening starting as soon as the position is filled. The position is 20 hours a week, flexible scheduling but Sunday morning is required. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

1. Must have a solid Christian foundation and commitment to the Presbyterian Church.

2. Must maintain a healthy balance between leadership and dedicated service.

3. Good Communicator

4. Basic technological competency (Word/Google Docs, email, etc)

5. Capacity for teamwork with pastors and church leaders

6. Must have specialized training and/or experience with children, youth, and pastoral

ministry. College Degree preferred

7. Must be positive and respectful in dealing with church members, youth, parents, etc.

8. Must present a mature role model and example.

9. Must be able to pass a background check

General Responsibilities

The DCE is responsible for the promotion, development, and leadership of adult & children’s activities and educational programs for the congregation. The goal is to develop the total Christian Educational Ministry of Trinity Presbyterian Church to its fullest potential in spiritual, educational, and relational ways so as to glorify God.

1. Train and assist church members for the task of teaching and leading Christian Education.

2. Recruit, train, and coordinate leaders for Children’s programs, including Sunday School and Children’s sermons, special programs, etc

3. Provide resources for Christian Education programs (curriculum, nursery supplies, etc.)

4. Communicate Christian Education programs with the congregation

5. Share in the leadership of worship, including the children’s sermon

6. Coordinate and lead Safe Sanctuary workshop for congregation in tandem with human resource committee and manage requirements to maintain safe sanctuary status

7. Develop and maintain education and recreational programs for the Adults & Children of the church.

8. Lead the Education Committee of the Church

9. Be directly involved and promote activities of our Presbytery, Synod, and General Assembly. (Such as CPYC, retreats, camps, conferences, etc.)

10. Visit, as appropriate, with children and parents to develop relationships that strengthen the entire children's programs of the church.

11. Secure, suggest, and implement proper facility needs in classrooms to promote healthy Christian Education.

12. Coordinate with the Education Committee and session, budget requests for each year

13. Provide communication via weekly e-newsletter and bulletin as needed and encourage congregation support in the total ministry of the church.

14. Participate in weekly worship

15. Be willing to serve as a Sunday school/Bible study leader when/where necessary.

16. Plan and help execute quarterly education opportunities (connect groups, speakers, other educational opportunities)

17. Support youth director when needed.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Establish and assist with a children’s music program in partnership with Music Director

2. Coordinate periodic activities for children up through 6th grade.

3. Coordinate fellowship, outreach, education opportunities for children and families.

4. Coordinate and oversee Summer and Advent Programming (Vacation Bible School

and Children’s Christmas Program)

5. Attend camps and retreats as needed.

6. Oversee the church nursery (hiring, training and supervision) of both paid staff and congregation volunteers.

7. Perform quarterly reviews with nursery staff, maintain current rosters, manage supplies and other needs of the nursery

Salary Range: $20,000-$25,000 annually
